I do love a good self-inventory list, don’t you?

It felt fitting in my re-entry to bring you some fun, non-earth shattering things I realized and realized-anew about myself over the holidays whilst eating too much frosted banana pound cake (a new delightful recipe I’ll include at the end!) and making a butt indention on the couch.

So with no further adieu…

Things I realized about myself over the holidays:

  1. I am an Eclecticist when it comes to decorating.

This is probably as close of a design label to a non-label, which makes so much sense for me. (I hate labels) I love a mix of old and new - never one for rules!

My house is over 50 years old and we simply painted its original windows rather than replacing them, while putting in a completely modern bathroom, for instance.

I recently bought this credenza for my kitchen area, and a part of me wants to keep it minimalist. I love that clean look.

But another (I think bigger in this case) part of me longs to fill the space with photos in eclectic frames of my family. I’ve always wanted a fun gallery space for my guests to spend time looking at, even though I have multiple wall galleries already in my house. I’m torn between the maximalist that would do the photo gallery and the minimalist that would keep it clean like this - stay tuned for which wins out! I truly love both looks.
